It’s never too late to chase your dream.

When your life begins to feel like “The Logical Song” by Supertramp, it’s important to remember that your dreams aren’t dead – they’re just dormant, waiting for you to chase them again.

After many years of deferring his passion in favor of a more “responsible” and “stable” career path, Adam decided it was time to finally chase that dream and give voice acting a shot.

One man’s lifelong journey into voiceover

Adam discovered his true passion for voice acting in his youth. Like most kids his age, Adam was naturally drawn to things like cartoons, animated films, and video games. But unlike most, he also dreamed of being the voice behind his favorite characters. Voices like Kermit, Mickey, Optimus (also known as Jim, Wayne, and Peter…) were some of his idols. He loved the idea of bringing a character to life and being the unseen voice behind the screen.

Throughout his childhood, Adam satisfied this interest in a hobby-like way, often speaking in silly character voices and mimicking various sound effects. His best childhood friend humorously dubbed him “The Master of Many Stupid Sounds” – a title he is still proud of today.

Into adulthood, even while pursuing a more pragmatic career in the technology field, Adam never divested his passion, continuing to relish the opportunity to voice characters and bring them to life. One of his favorite parenting activities was reading storybooks to his children, bringing each character to life with their own distinct voice. The more characters the better – Winnie the Pooh and Thomas & Friends stories were some of his favorites, owing to the wonderfully rich variety of voices available to emulate. He also enjoyed creating entirely new voices (with input from his children, of course) for characters whom had never been voiced before.

Fortuitously, Facebook’s algorithm must have picked up on something, because one day it fed Adam an ad for a course that would demystify the world of voiceover and explain the basics of how to get started – something he’d never really known how to go about. With that as a launching point, he finally began to pursue his lifelong passion, setting up a respectable home studio and training with a phenomenal voiceover director and coach through GVAA.

And the rest of the story continues to be written…
